TECHNOSANGRAM    DIARIES   PART   II

OK so this is the second stage of our pre techno preparations.. the most crucial.. where we were suppose to chalk out the skeleton of our dream event.. which events.. how we would go about them.. dividing responsibilities.. exploring sources of revenue.. publicity strategies.. 

so we sat down.. we had a meeting.. our GS had planned to host events by dividing them into clusters.. clusters of similar events.. rather events of a particular skill clubbed together.. so then were born the six clusters

1) TECHNOWAR ( core electronics related events )

2) TECHNOBIZ   ( business related events )

3) TECHQUILLA ( gaming )

4) ROBOLYMPICS ( robotics related )

5) PANORAMA ( events for fun )

6) WEBMANIA (events to be done online )

following this, we decided that council members would take up responsibilities as cluster heads and supervise all events in a particular cluster.. classmates would handle individual events

stage 1 was complete with assigning of events to interested classmates and getting the rules and intros frames from them.

stage 2 was deciding about the tshirt.. that was again a huge task.. not coz it was tough.. coz there were too many opinions and preferences and stuff like that.. we finally decided that we would wear black tshirts with a personalised design printed on them.. the design was the brainchild of one of my artist friend.. tosha..

next task was to get a theme..

ok here is moment of pride coz the theme was from my super creative and innovative brain :P :P :D

and .. it was.. wait for it.. " GET SET INVENT!!"

with that done, we were into the next tough task at hand.. zeroing in on our prospective sponsors.. we drew up a list of 30 places we would approach.. amey was our money machine.. he got us all the contacts

the sponsorship brochure was designed by aakaash.. super attractive i must say.. i bet many people listened to us coz we were flipping the colorful and attractive pages of the brochure at the same time!  ;)   :p  :D

hmmm.. then we set out.. the first place we visited.. that guy wasnt there at his office.. too bad.. we proceeded to another place.. that gentleman brought out a list of bills pending to be paid by our dear college.. said to give his money first :P shame shame puppy shame :P

still we picked up courage and went to a radio station.. that experience was an eye opener.. i realised that we were not as armed and prepared with sponsorship proposals as we should've been.. post that i realised how we were to sell our idea.. by making the sponsor feel like the proposal has been specially modified and designed to suit their convenience and business :) :) :)

what followed is numerous visits to many different companies and interacting with many different individuals..

providing id cards and references at the company gate to the security guards.. signing the visitors book.. getting the visitors pass.. meeting a top guy.. explaining our techno to him.. helping ex-engicos revive their college days.. telling people whether amonkar is still there in GEC ( cant rem how many ppl asked us that!!).. followed by complusory drinking of tea/coffee ( why dont they offer fruit juices or cold coffee??)

OK after visiting many places, at the end our the third day of our sponsorship drive, we were tired.. feeling hopeless about the unsure replies that we received from everybody..

we went to our last destination.. WISDOM bookstore in margao.. there was an old uncle there..the owner.. we approached him.. he told us he can give us a max of 1000 rupees and we can give him any sort of publicity in return that we deem suitable coz he cant afford any amt more than that!!

that moment felt like bliss!! i was on cloud 9.. even though we started out with 1000 rupees only chasing a target of 2 lakh rupees.. it was our first cheque!! first collection!!

remember we kissed that piece of paper that meant so dear to us!!

but anyways,, the responses grew positive with time and at the end of jan we had a rough idea about who all bought out proposal and who didnt wish to entertain us any further.. a sincere thank u to all the kind hearted people who looked into out cause and got us funds released from their esteemed companies.. i jus cant thank u enough :)
